Hipfest V: The Birthday Celebrations!!! - Days Eight and Nine

It's Kip's last day in Las Vegas, she has a 10:50 PM flight out.  I originally had an early morning flight out today, but changed it to the next day, since I had the room booked for tonight.

Way back on January 6, I tried to register for a Wynn Master Class that was happening today, but was put on the wait list.  I received a call from them in the morning telling me a spot opened up and if I was still interested.  We had originally left time open for this, but as the time came closer, we were going to have brunch with Lola at Park MGM and play at Aria.  But since this seemed like a good opportunity, we accepted.  The Master Class was Brunch Entertaining Made Easy and it was at 3:00 PM.  I think our brunch plans at Primrose was not too much before this, but I think we managed to get the res for 12:45 PM.  I had purchased some myVEGAS rewards that I had to redeem at the slot booth, so while Lola and Kip were at the restaurant, I waited in line.  Around 1:00 PM, I got to Primrose and we ate (after coffee and Carolan's in-room, of course).

BOGO mimosas!

Free pastry with entree.

Primrose classic!

The service was apparently pretty quick, as my photo of the mimosas was at 1:00 PM, and my meal was 1:09 PM.  We had plenty of time to get over to Wynn.

The Master Class was in an outdoor section of La Cave.  Genevieve Hopkins, the general manager, gave us a brief description of how things would work before turning over the presentation to Executive Chef William DeMarco.

Brunch Entertaining Made Easy!

I supposed we should have known that this Master Class would have had food involved, but we didn't know how much food there would be!  We started off with a fruit cup and some sangria, and then you can see the foods from the menu:

Fruit Cup and Sangria.

Baked Potato Loaded Tater Tots.

Snickers Pancake.

Bacon & Egg Flatbread.

Truffle Mushroom Grits.

Short Rib Taco.

Their logo plate, I apologize for the crumbs!

S'mores Flatbread.

William DeMarco closing the presentation.

He had been talking about how good the short rib tacos were, and even though they weren't on the Master Class menu, because he's the executive chef, he made it happen (as well as the S'mores Flatbread).  He showed us how to make each dish, and we even got the recipes for all of the dishes.  Maybe sometime if I'm motivated, I'll make one of them.  He had joked that no one there was a vegetarian (although I don't recall that being a question on the reservation), and I looked at Kip, who is a vegetarian.  Everything was great, and we got a gift bag with some macaroons (which I still haven't eaten, but Kip said they were good.  Hopefully they are still good after all this time).

After the Master Class, we walked around Wynn, not really finding anything to play.  I asked her what she wanted to do for her last few hours in town, and we ended up at Eureka to play some Multistrike.  We put in $100 and lost that.  We put in another and turned things around.  We were getting so close to being back to even.  Neither of us said it, but afterwards, we both referred to that commercial where the guys says, "we all see it, we all see it".  We started losing again, so I cashed us out at $142, for a $58 loss.  Turns out, I never had a card there, so I got a new player promo, as well as the LVA coupon for $10 in FP, plus they were running another promo for March.  I ended up with $85 in FP from the first promo, but the woman there wouldn't let me do the promo spin.  When she left, I went back up and the guy said I did get the spin, and I won another $75 in FP for a total of $160.  He told me, though, that I could only redeem $100 FP per day.  Well, that sucked.  I turned the first $85 into $90 and then the last $15 into $10, so we covered our losses.

We planned on dinner at Starboard Tack, but we were still stuffed from brunch and then Master Class brunch.  We headed back to Cromwell to use our $50 comp at the Bound Bar.  We recreated a photo similar to one that Michael took during one of his trips there with his daughter.

Kip's last drink in Las Vegas, Smoked Strawberry Margarita!

Vieux Carre!

We moved to a table to settle up our business, talked about the trip, no big wins, but no large losses, I think, but still lots of fun.  Time came for me to drop Kip off at the airport, which I did around 8:50 PM, then I headed back to Cromwell.  I was planning on doing some play there, since I wasn't going to stiff them.  But, I also need to try to pick up some things for my daughter.  I did see a fountain show from my room before I left though.

A view of Bally's/Paris from my room.

I walked over to Flamingo, easy enough, since it's right next door.  They didn't have what I wanted, so I walked across the street to Bellagio, and happened to catch another fountain show.

I looked through the gift shop and then the Conservatory, since I was there.

I then walked to Cosmopolitan and picked up the Lunar New Year commemorative chip.  I then walked to Aria to see if they had the stuffed dumpling toy at Din Tai Fung, but they were closed (should have checked that before I left).  I then walked all the way back to Caesars Palace, where I did find a long sleeved shirt for my daughter.

I walked back across the street to Cromwell, and now it's midnight and I still had play I wanted to do.  I played the Cash Express Luxury Line on the Buffalo platform, which isn't my favorite.  I like the Dynamite Dash like the one on the Konami Slots App (which Kip and I did win on one of those machines at Wynn).  I hit a decent bonus, but eventually lost.

I guess I have a weakness for Super Draw, especially since my run at Horseshoe Baltimore back in September of last year.  Unfortunately, things weren't going so well.  I put in $100 after $100 with no luck, on a crappy game that I'm not hitting any quads.  Then finally, I hit a few. . .

A two and a kicker would have been nice here. . .

And here. . .

But, that was enough to take me +$100, and that was enough for me.  It was now 2:30 AM, and my flight is at 11:55 AM tomorrow, er today!

Friday, March 4, 2022

I woke up, showered, finished packing, ate the leftover chocolate croissant and finished as much of the Carolan's and the last of the coffee.

I took a last look out of the window and checked my balance.  I'm guessing the amount is the tip from the bar last night.

Good bye, Las Vegas, until next time!

I guess I'm getting Reward Credits for this. . .

I went to get gas near the rental car facility, and it was supposed to be a decent priced place according to Gasbuddy.  It was a Shell station, and first the Gasbuddy price was incorrect, and then the pump was having issues with my card.  I was going to go to another station, but now I've spent too much time here and didn't have time to run around.  I ended up not using my Shell card (and the 10c discount I would have gotten) and used another card.

My return time was 10:00 AM, but with the gas station fiasco, I didn't get there until 10:20 AM.  A 15 minute trip to the airport, checked in, through security, on the plane, and away.  Connection in DAL and home around 6:00 PM to DCA.  It was quite a bit colder at home than it was in Las Vegas!  I take the Metro from DCA to my office in McLean, where I parked, I get there around 8:00 PM, and get home around 9:00 PM.

And thus endeth another trip to Las Vegas.  Here's to September/October, and finally hitting a royal!
